CSX Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index for Third Consecutive
Year
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - September 16, 2013 - CSX (NYSE:CSX) today
announced that the company was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index
(DJSI) for North America for the third consecutive year. CSX is among three transportation companies recognized by the index for leadership in sustainable business practices.

CSX
demonstrated strong performance broadly across assessed criteria, specifically in the areas of customer relationship management, climate strategy, and occupational health and safety.
Notable CSX
accomplishments include improving company-wide fuel efficiency by 2 percent
this year and implementing a new waste-reduction program that helped recycle
50,000 tons of material since 2010. During 2012, CSX provided more than $14
million in corporate giving to communities throughout its network and
employees logged more than 26,000 volunteer hours. The company is on track
to increase corporate giving to $15 million in 2013 and to meet its goal of
reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 6 to 8 percent by 2020.
The DJSI is a partnership between the Dow Jones Indexes and
RobecoSAM Sustainability Assessments, which tracks the financial performance
of the world's leading companies according to rigorous economic,
environmental and social criteria. Launched in 1999, the DJSI is the first
global sustainability benchmark for companies that prioritize environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
