With the "Lehigh
Limited" running over the LEHL on August 24th (see post below), seeing it stirred up memories for
me of another excursion over this line back in 1982. Sponsored by the Tri-State
Railway Historical Society, tickets would cost only twenty-eight dollars and
children under five were free. According to a newspaper article about this trip,
"more than 900 people are expected to take the trip." This trip's consist was
three NJT diesels and seventeen cars. It is seen here heading east past what was
CP WEST PORTAL on the LEHL. In the background can be seen the I-78
overpass.
