CSX Recognized as a Best Corporate Citizen by Corporate
Responsibility Magazine
"It's an honor to be named among leading businesses for
our commitment to operating responsibly by doing the right thing in the
communities we serve, a job that we take very seriously," said Michael J.
Ward, CSX chairman and CEO. "Freight rail plays a critical role in
supporting sustainable business by efficiently moving the things that matter,
and creating jobs and economic development."
In 2014, CSX and its employees lived the company's Core
Values by logging more than 24,000 volunteer hours and moving the most diverse
business mix in company history. The company has also achieved successes in
environmental sustainability, with record-high fuel efficiency allowing CSX to
move one ton of freight 483 miles on one gallon of fuel.
CSX's fifth annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report,
which includes all of these accomplishments and sets forward looking goals
around responsible business practices, will be released in June.
The 100 Best Corporate Citizens List measures all Russell 1000
companies based on 303
publicly-available data points in seven categories, including environment,
climate, employee relations, human rights, governance, finance, and
philanthropy and community support. The ranking is determined on a relative
comparison.
