It is August 17, 2001 as MARC Train 877 (GP40WH-2; ex-PC 3198) rounds the
curve adjacent to the westbound commuter facility at Harpers Ferry, West
Virginia. On board are passengers who just moved one day closer to retirement by
finishing up their work day. Fourteen years later on April 3, a CSX
westbound mixed freight lead by CSX 4734 (SD70AC) heads past the same facility
that is starting to show signs of neglect / age. Gone or perhaps just badly
faded is the "Harpers Ferry" sign. I had to wonder that with the passenger
station fixed up so nicely, will this structure eventually be restored when
money becomes available to do so?
