The Ashland Railway (ASRY) has begun
building an intermodal container facility just north of Mansfield, Ohio along
the former Erie Lackawanna Railway main line. This photo by Terry Sponsler looks northeast at the construction as the
excavating crew grades the large site just east of Mansfield Lahm Airport and north of the Mansfield
Speedway. The track in
the foreground is the remaining track of the once double-tracked Erie Railroad
main line (now ASRY), which connects in Mansfield with the NS (former PRR) main.
None of these boxes will roll over Starrucca Viaduct or through North Judson,
IN.
