The Republic, Ohio railroad disaster was 13 decades ago, on Wednesday. It was also exactly 100 years to the day before the tragic 1987 Chase, Maryland Conrail-Amtrak 'Gunpow' collision, with similar mortality (it is not known precisely how many died at Republic, due to intense fires in the wooden cars):
