Reminiscing about RBB&B Circus Trains

received via email

I was going through some slides and negatives when I photographed the circus train and wanted to share these scenes with you.

In the first image RBB&B”S RUCT is seen passing through Belle Mead (NJ) over CSX’s Trenton Line on April 16, 2001. Its symbol is P938 with FURX 3038 and CSX 8628 serving as the power consist. Behind the power is fifty-four cars.

RBX 30 is parked in Carlstadt (NJ) as one of the nineteen elephants that traveled with the Red Unit is guided out of its car. The date was November 15, 1983 as the circus would be playing at the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford (NJ).

CP 9023 and CP 5573 has transported the 5,044 foot long BUCT from Wilkes-Barre (PA) and is getting ready to hand it over to NS in Harrisburg (PA) on June 10, 2002. From there the train will be headed to its final destination of Oklahoma City (OK) via NS and BNSF.
